Clearing the Way in Kensington

The Diablo Firesafe Council has just completed three major projects in Kensington, finishing with the clearing of fuel behind the Kensington Hilltop School.

Coyote brush and a large storm-damaged tree had created significant fire risks. With $3,000 of funds for professional assistance and equipment provided by DFSC, volunteers and partners were able to clear and chip substantial amounts of fuel and improve passage in critical areas.

Goats are coming next! East Bay Regional Parks is arranging to get everyone’s favorite debris devourers started there later this month. You can visit their site to learn more about grazing for fuel reduction.

Funds are available to help your community too. If you have a community fuel-reduction project that requires professional services, Diablo Firesafe Council is ready to share the cost. Get information and applications at www.DiabloFiresafe.org.
