4th of July Fireworks

Happy 4th of July!

To be sure everyone is able to enjoy this beautiful weekend and the upcoming holiday, we want to remind everyone of East Bay fireworks rules.

First, Contra Costa County does not allow any fireworks in the county. Not even sparklers. If you see fireworks in use anywhere, call the tip line below.

Dublin, Newark, and Union City are the only places in Alameda County that allow fireworks, but they must be certified as “safe and sane.”

In fact, anything that does not carry the Safe & Sane seal is illegal to purchase, sell, or use anywhere in the State of California. Any fireworks that “explode, go into the air, or move on the ground in an uncontrollable manner” are out of the question. The Office of Emergency Services offers details online.

Call to report any illegal fireworks or related activity:

Alameda County Sheriff’s Department: 510-667-7721

Contra Costa Fireworks Tip Line: 833-885-2021

This weekend is hot and dry, though the heat should ease up in most areas by Tuesday. So stay alert, be smart, and let’s all enjoy a fire-free 4th of July.
